YouTube’s new Approach to YouTube Monetization:

Stricter criteria for monetization on YouTube!

Previously, channels had to reach 10,000 total views to be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

So that they can monetize their YouTube Videos.

Starting January 16, 2018, YouTube has made it even harder!

Now, new channels will need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months to be eligible for ads.

YouTube will begin enforcing these new requirements for existing channels in YPP beginning February 20th, 2018.

So if you’re trying to apply for YouTube Partner Program, these are the new requirements.

If you are already in the YouTube Partner Program, you may be removed from the YouTube Partner Program if you do not meet these requirements by February 20, 2018!

As for anyone who has reached 10,000 total views since December 2017 (like UTECHPIA), YouTube has put these accounts under “review” since early December, which basically means this policy has been in effect since December 2017!

UTECHPIA has about 1500 subscribers, over 31,000 views. And yet, has made $0.00 from Ad revenue.

Hopping over to the Monetization Tab, you can see in the video that UTECHPIA only has around 1100 hours of watch time in the previous 12 months, which is less than the required 4000 hours of watch time, I guess UTECHPIA won’t be making money from YouTube’s Partner Program for awhile….
